ALAMEDA — Derek Carr is the face of the Raiders, player-wise at least, but that face has spent far more of this season pressed against the ground than Carr would like.
He’s on pace to take 48 sacks in 2018, topping his previous single-season high by 17. Carr weathered 24 sacks his rookie season, 31 in 2015, only 16 in the Raiders’ breakout 2016, still just 20 last season and now a whopping 24 halfway through the 2018 season, tied for fifth-most in the NFL just two seasons after the Raiders owned the best offensive line in the league.
