Gareon Conley was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the No. 24 pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. An incredibly gifted cornerback from Ohio State, Conley’s draft day did not go as he would have liked, as an allegation of rape nearly derailed his NFL career before it started.
Conley was accused of raping a woman inside a Cleveland hotel prior to the draft, and the player once seen as a potential top-10 pick, saw himself nearly slide outside of the first round. The Raiders did their investigating, and took a chance on Conley, who has maintained his innocence throughout the entire ordeal.
