OAKLAND — Erik Harris was one questionable offside call away from a three interception night. If not for a penalty Karl Joseph could have had two, too, but his single interception sealed the Raiders’ 26-24 win over AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers.
Thursday night was, on its face and at first glance statistically, a strong night for the Raiders’ safeties against Chargers’ quarterback Philip Rivers, who was shaky at best.
Harris’ first pick came early in the first quarter on Rivers’ deep toss intended for Keenan Allen that Harris sprinted back for 59 yards. His second Harris would take a bit further, breaking down Rivers’ short pass through the middle and taking it to the house to give the Raiders a 10-0 lead.
