Jon Gruden left the broadcast booth to return to the Raiders. Rich Gannon isn’t following that path.
Gannon, the former Raiders quarterback who played under Gruden from 1999-2001, told 95.7 The Game on Wednesday that he will not be a part of the coaching staff Gruden is assembling for his second stint as Oakland’s head coach. Gruden was considering Gannon for quarterbacks coach.
Gannon, 52, had previously said he would consider the role. But he said Wednesday he decided against leaving his current job as an analyst for CBS to dive back into full-time coaching.
“It was really simply a decision for me and my family, just in terms of do I want to jump back in and basically turn my life upside down and do something that would really be a major lifestyle change,” Gannon told 95.
