ALAMEDA, Calif. – Former Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers safety Taylor Mays has been hit with a four-game suspension, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The suspension is for violations of the league’s substances of abuse policy, per the NFL Network.
Mays, a second-round draft pick of the Niners in 2010 out of USC who also spent four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, played in 14 games for the Raiders last season, starting five, including the season finale at strong safety against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He had 25 tackles last year, his most since his 31 as a rookie with the Niners, and had a career-best six passes defensed.
