Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, an NFL defensive lineman who played for the Raiders in 2003 and 2004, earned a commendation from the Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday for his role in apprehending a hit and run suspect, the Daily Mail reported.
Currently the host of American Ninja Warrior and an occasional analyst for NFL Network, Gbaja-Biamila was on his way to work last summer when he witnessed a motorcycle officer being struck by a car, with the force of the crash throwing him 50 feet.After checking on the officer, Gbaja-Biamila pursued the black SUV that hit him and shot cell phone pictures of the suspect's license plate.
