Former Oakland Raiders linebacker Neiron Ball suffered a brain aneurysm on Sept. 16 and is currently in a medically induced coma, according to the team.
Ball, 26, first started experiencing headaches and neck pain as a student-athlete at the University of Florida. Doctors diagnosed him with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a congenital condition that can cause blood vessels in the brain to rupture. Ball sat out the 2011 season after emergency surgery to address a brain bleed and was told by doctors there was "a very slim chance of a recurrence."
He was drafted by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
