Sean Smith, the ex-Raiders cornerback who was serving jail time for assaulting his sister’s former boyfriend, was released early from custody Tuesday morning.
Smith wound up serving about five months of his one-year sentence for the July 4, 2017 incident in Pasadena that left Christopher Woods with five facial fractures. The 31-year-old Smith, who was released by the Raiders after his sentencing in March, was freed from jail because of his good behavior and jail overcrowding.
He was originally scheduled to be set free on Sept. 5, but Smith caught a break and was released from jail at 5 a.
