Former Los Angeles Raider Rickey Dixon battling ALS

On Sunday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. ET, E:60 will show a piece on former college great and NFL player Rickey Dixon. In six years in the NFL, Dixon played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Raiders. He spent five seasons with the Bengals, and one with the Los Angeles Raiders.

Dixon is primarily known by college football fans as the key defensive piece of the mid 1980’s Oklahoma Sooners teams that played in four consecutive Orange Bowls from 1985 to 1988. After an All-American season in 1987, Dixon became the first Sooner to win the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation’s best defensive back in Division I college football.
