Wide receiver Davante Adams versus cornerback Astane Samuel Jr. will be one of the most important one-on-one matchups in Sunday’s season opener between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.
While Adams had success against the Chargers last season with 16 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown in two games, the wideout did have a tough time breaking loose against Samuel. According to Pro Football Focus, Adams had just five grabs and 35 yards with Samuel lined up across from him in those contests.
That could lead to Los Angeles’ new defensive coordinator Jesse Minter having his top cornerback follow Las Vegas’ top receiver throughout the Week 1 matchup.
