ALAMEDA — A feeling of familiarity was a prime reason new Raiders safety Taylor Mays ended up in the Silver and Black.
Mays, a former 49ers second-round pick, signed with the Raiders this week after being released by the Detroit Lions last week. He first practiced with the team on Wednesday.
“It has been real comfortable for me,” Mays said.
Mays has only started four games over the past four years, time he spent entirely with the Cincinnati Bengals. That’s where the 49ers traded him after his rookie year, acquiring just a seventh-round pick.
Mays first signed with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, but was released and picked up by Detroit before getting cut again.
