Today, April 25, we look back at former Raider Eldridge Dickey who was selected No. 25 overall in the first round of the 1968 NFL Draft.
Dickey, a standout quarterback at Tennessee State University, peaked the interest of Raiders owner Al Davis, who selected the Houston, Texas, native, making him the first African-American quarterback to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Although he eventually switched positions to play wide receiver, appearing in 18 games for the Silver and Black, his selection in the first round marked a landmark moment for equality in the NFL.
