DETROIT — Every time the Lions run the ball, an angel loses it wings.
And yet, Detroit — the worst running team in the NFL by a wide margin — kept doing Oakland a favor Sunday by trying to establish the ground game. This after, Matthew Stafford threw for 66 yards on a game-opening drive that resulted in a field goal.
Here’s the sad thing, in a game that should be erased from the archives: the Lions, at 3.5 yards a play, ran for twice as many yards as the Raiders. Detroit finished with 109 yards on 31 carries, while Oakland ran for 50 yards on 21 carries.
