Derek Carr to take more shots downfield in 2018

As Derek Carr heads into year No. 5, the Oakland Raiders need to start utilizing him the way they did two years ago. During the 2016 season, Carr led the Raiders to a 12-4 record, establishing himself as one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

The difference between that season, and last year’s 6-10 campaign, was that Carr took a lot more shots downfield. In fact, Carr threw for only 6.79 yards per attempt, ranking 19th in the league in 2017. With a new regime at the helm in Oakland, that stat is certain to change in 2018.
