Derek Carr is headed to his third consecutive Pro Bowl as a replacement for Tom Brady, the Raiders announced Monday.
Carr put out a statement of his own on Twitter in response to his selection as an alternate for next Sunday’s game in Orlando.
Carr’s promotion comes after Brady’s Patriots defeated the Jaguars in Sunday’s AFC Championship to advance to the Super Bowl in two weeks. Carr becomes the Raiders’ fifth Pro Bowler this year, joining offensive linemen Kelechi Osemele, Rodney Hudson and Donald Penn and defensive end Khalil Mack.
Carr is now the third quarterback in franchise history to make three Pro Bowls, matching Ken Stabler and Rich Gannon.
