Derek Carr inactive for today’s game against Ravens

Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr is inactive for this afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite practicing in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday this week, Carr isn’t healthy enough to return after suffering a transverse process fracture in his back last Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

In Carr’s place, fifth-year signal-caller EJ Manuel will start under center. This is Manuel’s first season with Oakland after starting 17 games over four seasons with the Bills. Manuel has some familiarity here, as center Rodney Hudson played with Manuel for three seasons at Florida State and Raiders’ offensive coordinator Todd Downing was Buffalo’s quarterbacks coach in 2014.
