Raiders owner Mark Davis said Tuesday that the one time he thought he was close to deal for a new stadium with Oakland was in the summer of 2013, working with Colony Capital, but that ‘unraveled” when the Oakland A’s were given a 10-year lease at the site.
Davis appeared on the team’s flagship station 95.7 FM a week after the NFL approved his team’s move to Las Vegas in 2020 to further explain where it all went wrong with Oakland.
After the A’s signed the new lease in 2014, Davis said he met with A’s owner Lew Wolff about doing a joint deal for two stadiums at the Coliseum site.
