Chris Long, son of Raiders Hall of Famer Howie Long, is available after being a cap casualty by the Rams

There’s a legacy on the loose, and time will tell whether general manager Reggie McKenzie and coach Jack Del Rio will make a pitch to add the son of Raiders’ Hall of Fame defensive lineman Howie Long to the roster.

Chris Long is a former No. 2 overall draft pick who started just five games last season and has played in 18 games over the past two years. From 2010 through 2013, Long was one of the NFL’s top pass rushers with 41.5 sacks.

Over the last two years, Long has just four sacks. On his Twitter account, Long wrote, “Bottom line, this is a production business.
