With a 3-0 unanimous vote, the City Council of the City of Carson approved the plan to build a professional football stadium in that city as proposed by a joint venture sponsored by the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers. The news was met by raucous cheers by a crowd of both Raiders and Chargers fans in the council chambers.
The Carson stadium plan, first unveiled in February by the Raiders and Chargers, has progressed rapidly to this point, becoming the third professional football stadium plan in recent memory to reach this stage in the Los Angeles region.
