ALAMEDA, Calif. – One of the best stories of the early season for the Oakland Raiders has been defensive back TJ Carrie.
After opening eyes as a seventh-round pick last year, Carrie emerged as Oakland’s best cornerback in training camp this summer. That was impressive enough for a player who was barely drafted. However, Carrie’s importance became even more clear when, in Week 3, he was moved to safety because Taylor Mays, the Week 2 replacement for the injured Nate Allen, wasn’t up to par.
Carrie, who hadn’t played safety since high school, was inserted in the lineup against Cleveland at safety and has shined there ever since.
