Defensive end Aldon Smith, signed just two days ago to a one-year deal, is active for the Raiders’ opener Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The feeling seems to be that he’ll play limited snaps in pass rush situations. He’s had next to no time to learn the defense so that’s about all that can be expected. And the Raiders probably want to get as much as they can out of him before his inevitable suspension is handed down.
As for the inactives, here’s who won’t suit up for the Raiders: WR Brice Butler, CB Dexter McDonald, RB Roy Helu Jr.
