The Oakland Raiders retained nine of their free agents on Monday, including backup quarterback Matt McGloin, but what Raider Nation really wants to know if what prospects the team is targeting at the NFL Draft. Which NCAA talents do the major outlets see going to Oakland? Who will the Silver and Black select in the first round?
Read on for the Raiders draft rumors roundup.
QBs Cody Kessler, Jake Coker Late Values?
Even though they're holding on to McGloin for another year, the Raiders would be wise to try and add another signal-caller as insurance behind Derek Carr. USC's Cody Kessley and Alabama's Jake Coker were both mentioned by Raiders CSN Insider Scott Bair as good late-round targets, with Coker perhaps being available after the draft.
Eli Apple The CB Of Choice In 1st Round?
The Raiders selecting first-round help for their secondary is a no brainer, but which of the elite collegiate cornerbacks is the most attractvie to Oakland? Ohio State's Eli Apple stands out in CBS Sports' most recent projection, though Florida's Vernon Hargeaves III and Houston's William Jackson would both make sense as well. No matter who the Raiders end up targeting, look for them to prioritize a CB with one of their first two picks.
WR Sterling Shepard Worth An Early-Round Pick?
Oakland finally has a duo of dependable receivers in Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, but the Raiders' success taking Cooper last year might compell them to draft another wideout early. After addressing their secondary, the Raiders could go for a quality route runner like Oklahoma's Sterling Sherpard, according to Bair. Like Cooper, Shepard is a polished product that could contribute from Day 1. Bair also likes Western Michigan slot receiver Daniel Braverman, who should be available in the middle rounds.
