Here Are 3 Players The Oakland Raiders Need To Avoid In The 1st Round Of The 2018 NFL Draft

There are a ton of Raiders rumors swirling around who Oakland should draft with pick #10 in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, yet not too often do we hear about who a team should avoid. The Oakland Raiders finished the regular season with a 6-10 record and are looking to get back on track as one of the top teams in the AFC. As such, here are three players the Raiders should avoid with pick #10 in the 2018 NFL Draft:

3) Connor Williams, OT, Texas

The life of an offensive lineman isn't easy and Williams will be the first to tell you that. He missed most of his Junior year with a sprained PCL and MCL. The jury is out on how Williams will recover from those injuries. He stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 315 pounds which is a great sized lineman for a lineman but he battles in the trenches with some of the strongest players in the league and hasn't been able to stay healthy. Williams is talented, but the injury concerns should scare the Raiders away, especially in the first round.

2) Marcus Davenport, DE, Texas-San Antonio

He is tall and long-limbed combined with his athletic ability is why NFL teams are falling in love with him. In his final season, he recorded 55 tackles, 17.5 TFL, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. What scares me about Davenport is his competitive edge or desire to be great. He has a laid-back personality and at the Senior Bowl didn't handle the spotlight well, which may be an issue once he gets to the NFL. Handling the attention in Oakland and soon to be Las Vegas will be too much for Davenport to handle.

1) Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville

Oakland needs help in the secondary and is largely expected to take a cornerback or linebacker with the No. 10 pick. Ohio State corner Denzel Ward is one of their targets, but if he's off the board, the Raiders shouldn't go with another player at the position so early in the draft given the depth and lack of other top-end options at the position. Alexander is part of that depth but simply isn't skilled enough to consider reaching for this high.
