The Oakland Raiders' future both at the O.Co Coliseum and in the City of Oakland is still completely up in the air if the team's current stance on season tickets is to be seen as any indication.
Per San Francisco Chronicle columnists Phil Matier and Andy Ross, "according to Chris Dobbins, a member of the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Authority, which oversees the stadium, the team isn’t accepting season ticket renewals for next year — with just two home games left this season, including Sunday’s stand against the 49ers."
Dobbins, who is also a member of area booster group Save Oakland Sports - an organization whose intent is to keep both the Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's within city bounds - indicated that the group sent two members to the team's box office this past week in order to renew their season tickets.
The members were turned away without much of an explanation.
This 2014 NFL season has been filled with alternating rumors of both relocation and a proposed "Coliseum City" project that would promise new stadiums for the Raiders and/or A's along with housing, hotels, retail and office buildings in an 800-acre sprawl extending from where the current Coliseum stands to land across the Nimitz Freeway.
However, despite a meeting last Tuesday with San Diego financier Floyd Kephart - granted an exclusive 90-day negotiating deal by the Oakland City Council on October 21st in order to try and get either one or both Coliseum franchises to buy into the Coliseum City project - the Raiders have reported no progress in negotiations nor are they indicating any plans for a future meeting.
"We're trying like hell to get something done," Raiders owner Mark Davis told Mark Purdy of the San Jose Mercury News. Davis would then reference the atmosphere surrounding the Raiders' 24-20 home win over the Kansas City Chiefs a couple weeks back on Thursday Night Football .
"That Thursday night game against Kansas City shows you the kind of fan loyalty we have here," Davis said. "You can't buy that anywhere."
