The Oakland Raiders are giving former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree a chance to silence his doubters, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with the veteran wide receiver worth $3 million plus an extra $2 million in incentives.
The #10 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft confirmed his decision to join the Raiders via Twitter on Monday night:
It's official.. I'm a Raider
— Michael Crabtree (@KingCrab15) April 14, 2015
Crabtree's production took a dive last season, and he truly hasn't looked like the same player since suffering an Achilles injury back in 2013. In the 24 games he's played in since his injury, Crabtree has eclipsed 100 yards just twice. In fact, Crabtree never touched 100 yards in a game in 2014, topping out at 85 yards receiving in a single contest.
However, after being relegated to a third-receiver role during the end of his time in SF, Crabtree has a legitimate chance to start for a Raiders team in need of skill-position weapons for second-year quarterback Derek Carr. Whether he takes said chance and runs with it still remains to be seen.
