Only a few months after its relaunch, it appears the XFL is over. According to ESPN, the XFL suspended its operations this morning and laid off almost all its staff. Currently, there are no plans to return in 2021.
The league was only five games into its season when the coronavirus pandemic hit last month. At the time, three Kentucky Wildcats were on XFL rosters: Austin MacGinnis (Dallas Renegades), Jeff Badet (Dallas Renegades), and Jon Toth (DC Defenders). Former Kentucky head coach Hal Mumme was also on the Renegades’ staff as offensive coordinator before a leg injury forced him to step down to an advisor role.
