LEXINGTON – Even after C.J. Fredrick’s season-ending hamstring injury, John Calipari has more players than available minutes in his Kentucky basketball rotation.
“Can I petition to see if I can add minutes to the game?” Calipari joked after Kentucky’s win over Robert Morris. “I'm trying to get it to an extra eight a quarter. I don't think they're going to go for that.”
In the season opener against Duke, junior Jacob Toppin seized the majority of the minutes at the four thanks to his defense against Blue Devils star freshman Paolo Banchero. With Toppin unavailable against Robert Morris due to a shoulder injury, freshman Daimion Collins enjoyed a breakout performance at that position with 14 points, six rebounds, four blocks and three assists.
