This year’s Kentucky team has a disturbing trend, and it’s not just the lack of an interior presence. Through 16 games, the Cats have amassed 10 technical fouls. For comparison’s sake, last year’s team only had five the entire season. So, double the number in less than half the time. Yikes.
There’s no denying this group is chippy, especially the guards, and while I’m all for having a chip on your shoulder, 10 technicals in 16 games is way too many. The biggest offender? Jamal Murray with three technicals, followed by Tyler Ulis and Isaiah Briscoe with two each, and Alex Poythress, Marcus Lee, and Skal Labissiere with one a piece.
