Head coach Mark Stoops after his team beats Louisville to end their regular season play 9-3. Louisville Courier Journal
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The latest College Football Playoff rankings have eliminated much of the remaining mystery about Kentucky’s bowl destination.
With fellow 9-3 SEC teams Florida (No. 9) and LSU (No. 10) safely in the top 12 and position for a New Year’s Six bowl, Kentucky is close to a lock to be the top-ranked available SEC team after the playoff committee fills the New Year’s Six bowls.
That would leave the Wildcats as the obvious choice for the Citrus Bowl, which has next pick of SEC teams, against a Big Ten team to be determined with Penn State or Northwestern the most likely options depending on the results of conference title games.
