Three takeaways from Kentucky football's 34-10 loss at No. 5 Florida:
Self-inflicted wounds derail promising start
For all the positive strides Stoops has made in shedding the program's reputation for embarrassing mistakes, this team has looked like "old Kentucky" for much of the season.
Like at Alabama last week, Kentucky actually started the game in impressive fashion. The Wildcats were on the verge of taking a 10-7 lead into the locker room at halftime when the first in a series of critical mistakes gave Florida control of the game.
Stoops called a timeout after his defense forced a punt at midfield with 1:20 left in the second quarter, but after a stellar Florida punt gave Kentucky the ball at its own 1-yard line on the ensuing possession, Stoops and offensive coordinator Eddie Gran elected to play it safe with three straight runs.
