What we learned from Kentucky basketball's win over Mississippi State

LEXINGTON, Ky. — It was a familiar sight for the Rupp Arena crowd.

As No. 22 Mississippi State scored the first four points of the game, fans had to wonder if another slow start was in store for the home team, But unlike the last two home games when Kentucky fell behind 12-2 to Texas A&M and 16-4 to Vanderbilt in the first five minutes, the No. 9 Wildcats wasted no time silencing those fears Tuesday.

Freshman guard Tyler Herro put Kentucky on the board with his first of three 3-pointers in the game before freshman guard Keldon Johnson scored seven straight points to spark a 20-4 run to give Kentucky an early 13-point lead in what ended up a 76-55 victory.
