LEXINGTON – Not all in-state “rivalries” are created equally.
After Kentucky and Louisville are in danger of not playing in men’s basketball for the first time since 1983 after the annual rivalry matchup was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Louisville program, the Wildcats replaced the Cardinals with last minute game against Western Kentucky on Wednesday.
Western Kentucky actually boasts the second most wins all-time of any Kentucky college, but the program’s success has come largely in a vacuum from UK’s. Wednesday’s game will mark just the fourth regular season meeting between the two programs and first since 2001.
