LEXINGTON, Ky. – John Calipari reminded Wenyen Gabriel earlier this week of what he wants to see in practice and games.
"He made it real simple for me," Gabriel said. "He told me I'm a finisher, I rebound and defend and bring energy."
All of that was on display in Gabriel's performance during Kentucky's 92-85 win over LSU on Tuesday. He posted a career-high 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists, drained 3 of 6 shots from 3-point range, and the Cats were plus-17 in scoring with Gabriel on the court, a team-best.
That's quite a turnaround for the freshman forward, who scored only five points at Florida this past Saturday and had reached double figures in scoring only twice since November.
