The Northern Kentucky men’s basketball team lives to fight another day thanks to some last-second heroics at BB&T Arena.
Hosting Brad Calipari’s Detroit Mercy in the Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals, the Norse trailed by one with less than 10 seconds remaining when former Henry Clay star Marques Warrick attacked the rim. His shot off the glass missed, but the Norse got not one, not two, but three put-back attempts before the ball finally rolled through the rim.
David Bohn buried the decisive basketball. Warrick led all scorers with 20 points. The Norse will advance to Monday’s semifinal, two wins away from their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament in five years.
