As you might expect, John Calipari started his press conference following Kentucky’s 96-88 win over Saint Joseph’s with plenty of praise for the Hawks, whose three-point loss to Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday turned out to be quite deceiving.
“St. Joe’s, I knew they could play this way. Last game they were 6-30 from the three. They made 15 threes and some of them, we were on them [defending]. For us to hold on with a bunch of young guys…”
The unsaid says it all. So do the overlooked parts of the box score. After trailing off, Calipari brought up the fact that Reed Sheppard led the team in efficiency despite not scoring a single point.
