Kentucky came up short on the scoreboard Saturday afternoon at Vanderbilt, but the trip to Nashville wasn’t a total loss for the Wildcats.
After the final buzzer, Vanderbilt fans stormed the court and violated the SEC’s access to competition area policy.
With that being Vandy’s third violation of the rule, the university must pay the University of Kentucky $500,000 as fines are paid to the opposing institution.
Here is a release from the SEC:
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (January 26, 2025) – The Southeastern Conference announced today that Vanderbilt University will be fined for a violation of the league’s access to competition area policy due to fans entering the court following its men’s basketball game against the University of Kentucky on January 25.
