LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Commonwealth Stadium is no more. The home of the Kentucky football program since 1973 will be known as Kroger Field moving forward.
Naming rights for the stadium became available as part of UK’s contract with multimedia marketing partner JMI Sports, and the new deal between JMI and Kroger begins at $1.85 million annually for up to 12 years, according to a UK spokesman. The stadium's new name was announced Monday afternoon at a news conference in UK's new Don & Cathy Jacobs Science Building, which was funded in part by funds from the athletics department.
