LEXINGTON - Record-setting Kentucky track sprinter Abby Steiner was named the National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Monday.
Steiner recently defended her NCAA title in the 200-meter dash (22.16 seconds). Earlier this season she broke the American indoor record in the event. Her time of 22.09 seconds was second fastest ever by a woman in the indoor 200 meters.

The Dublin, Ohio native also finished second in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 7.
