LEXINGTON, Ky. --- A large crowd around UK defensive lineman Matt Elam has become something of an annual tradition for Kentucky football media day in the Mark Stoops era.
Elam, a 6-foot-7, 360-pound nose guard, garners a crowd of reporters large enough to rival his behemoth frame. Despite totaling just 42 tackles in 36 games across three seasons, the former five-star recruit seems to always be at the center of at least one offseason storyline for Kentucky thanks to his recruiting hype.
The fact Elam rarely agrees to interviews after practice or games only adds to the annual circus surrounding him.
