UK coach John Calipari previews season opener against Utah Valley Jon Hale/The C-J
LEXINGTON, Ky. — On Thursday, John Calipari, as he often does, offered a question that didn't require the answer to prove a point.
Asked about potential foul trouble of his young and inexperienced Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, the coach said: "When was the last shutout in college basketball? Has there been one? Probably not."
The message is simple: One bucket isn't worth one foul. The meaning goes deeper: Too much fouling and Kentucky could find itself in trouble during the nonconference portion of the schedule.
