Kentucky assistant Tony Barbee looks back on the North Dakota win and ahead to VMI. Jon Hale, Louisville Courier Journal
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky might need to stop scheduling early-season games against VMI.
Ten years after the Keydets pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Rupp Arena history to open the 2008-09 season, VMI pushed UK to its limit again in what ended up a 92-82 Kentucky win.
The Keydets scored their first 18 points from 3-point range, hitting 6 of 9 3-point attempts, and trailed by just one point with 5:03 left in the first half, before a 12-0 UK run sparked by the Wildcats' advantage in the paint opened up the game.
