LEXINGTON, Ky. – For surprising the Southeastern Conference and establishing itself in the national top 10, the Kentucky Wildcats baseball program earned numerous postseason awards, the SEC announced Monday.
First-year coach Nick Mingione was named SEC Coach of the Year by his peers and seven Wildcats earned conference honors.
Sophomore right-hander Sean Hjelle was named SEC Pitcher of the Year, and senior reliever Logan Salow and sophomore outfielder Tristan Pompey joined Hjelle on the All-SEC First Team. Junior first baseman Evan White, junior infielder Riley Mahan and junior catcher Troy Squires earned All-SEC Second Team nods.
