LEXINGTON - The UK athletics complex containing the softbaIl, soccer and baseball stadiums on Alumni Drive has a new name.
It will now be known as the Barnhart Family Athletics Complex, following a vote of the university's Board of Trustees Tuesday.
The decision comes after a $5 million donation from prominent UK athletics boosters Wendell and Vickie Bell was made with the contingency the complex be named in honor of athletics director Mitch Barnhart's and his wife Connie Barnhart's "longstanding service to and commitment to the university student athletes," according to a resolution read by President Eli Capilouto during the board meeting.
