UK addresses running back shortage with signing day pledge from Kavosiey Smoke

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Following the transfer of freshman Bryant Koback in January, UK coach Mark Stoops identified running back as a position needing reinforcement.

Kentucky addressed that need Wednesday with a signing day commitment from three-star Alabama prep running back Kavosiey Smoke. The Wetumpka, Alabama native signed with Kentucky over North Carolina and Florida Atlantic.

Smoke joins three-star Georgia prep running back Chris Rodriguez, who signed with the Wildcats in December, in UK's 2018 class. The addition of the two freshmen would give Kentucky five scholarship running backs in the fall. UK will definitely lose senior Sihiem King after the 2018 season and could lose star junior Benny Snell to the NFL draft.
