The Kentucky point guard thrust himself into the national conversation by swiping eight steals against North Carolina. Quickly recognized as one of the country’s most disruptive perimeter defenders, he did not need to fill the stat sheet with points to be productive.
Against Auburn, Hagans showed he has an extensive offensive arsenal. The freshman knocked down 6-of-8 shots to score 14 points. His only two misses were from behind the three-point line, but he made up for it by knocking down two from long range (he was a big toe away from a third three-point make).
John Calipari was not surprised to see Hagans light it up from long range.
