Normally when you hear a former player is being assigned to the G League, that’s a bad thing, but for TyTy Washington, it’s the ideal tune-up. The former Kentucky Wildcat is in his rookie season with the Houston Rockets but hasn’t played in a regular season game yet after spraining his left knee last month. This morning, the Rockets assigned Washington to their G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. There, he’ll have a chance to get into game shape and develop before rejoining the Rockets later this season.
“He just needs to play,” general manager Rafael Stone told Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
