The Houston Rockets, the second-worst team in the NBA from a record standpoint, is preparing its young stars of the future by getting them as much on-court action as possible. However, after starting TyTy Washington in two consecutive games in February, the team sent him down for the G League to play meaningful minutes in competitive games. To no one’s surprise, he has flourished.
Since joining the Rio Grand Valley Vipers near the end of the G League’s regular season, Washington has put up incredible stat lines, including a triple-double:
- 33 points, 5 assists, 6 rebounds
- 12 points, 10 assists, 2 rebounds
- 19 points, 12 assists, 11 rebounds
- 21 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds
With TyTy at the helm, the Vipers went 2-2 in that stretch and clinched a playoff berth along the way.
