Tyrese Maxey has always been touted as a talented, versatile scorer with fantastic lead-guard skills on offense. What a lot of people may not have seen right away is his prolific defensive ability.

It has, however, been recognized by D1 Circuit, as Maxey has been awarded the Nike EYBL Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 2.7 steals per game and going 10-2 with Houston Hoops in EYBL circuit play.

“It means a lot to win this award, because I feel like my defense is underrated,” Maxey told D1 circuit.
