Mark Stoops isn’t the only head coach to hold a Monday press conference previewing Saturday’s Kentucky-Toledo showdown. Toledo head coach Jason Candle was also in front of a microphone to talk football, including the announcement of his starting quarterback and comments on the Kentucky football program.
Candle named Mitch Guadagni, a fifth-year senior, the winner of his quarterback competition in fall camp. Guadagni started only seven games a year ago due to injury, but finished with the MAC’s highest passing efficiency with over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns. Eli Peters, a junior, started the other six games last season and put up a fight for the starting gig for this season.
