Today’s game against Southern Miss was not cheap for University of Kentucky Athletics.
According to a report by the Hattiesburg American, UK is paying Southern Miss $950,000 for tonight’s game at Kroger Field.
In addition to paying Southern Miss, Kentucky is also forking out $1.4 million to Akron.
If you recall, the Wildcats were originally scheduled to play at Akron to open the 2024 season. UK decided to buy out that game and a 2026, then replaced the Zips with Southern Miss.
Akron is opening their season at Ohio State today.
As part of the deal, Ohio State is also paying Akron $950,000 for today’s game.
